Each day we wake in a place where we have the right to make choices. Political, religious and personal beliefs are protected. I think sometimes we take for granted that these things are common place, but let's not be mistaken. There are places in this world where these freedoms do not exist. The military and those that serve in the military protect these very rights, sometimes paying the ultimate price.
My father in law, Leon Bence, answered the call of service and was a Lieutenant with the Texas National Guard, going over seas to aid those in need.
My uncle,John DeLeon, served in the Army and also answered the call of service and went to Vietnam.
I don't think we can ever understand what they endured or what they saw. For their service and for all those who have served, thank you.
