Day 21 of Women’s Herstory month- a very talented artist and strong woman:

Frida Kahlo (Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderón) was a Mexican painter known for her many portraits, self-portraits, and works inspired by the nature and artifacts of Mexico.

Her paintings often had strong autobiographical elements and mixed realism with fantasy. She is known for painting about her experience of chronic pain.

A force in the art world, Kahlo became known in Mexico and around the world for creating thought-provoking works grounded in magical realism. Her 1938 self-portrait, titled “The Frame,” was the first work by a 20th-century Mexican artist to ever be featured in the Louvre.
