COVID 19 COURT UPDATE #1
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
March 13, 2020
County Court at Law No. 4 deems that non-essential in-person proceedings may pose an unnecessary or unreasonable risk to participants, court staff, or the public.
In order to avoid that risk, the decision has been made to delay proceedings or when a hearing is absolutely necessary it will be conducted by a telephone or video remote appearance. This practice will remain in effect until at least April 1.
The office of Court Administration considers essential proceedings to include, but are not limited to, criminal magistration proceedings, CPS removal hearings, temporary restraining orders / temporary injunctions, juvenile detention hearings, family violence protective orders, and certain mental health proceedings.
Attorneys and court participants who may be persons with COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms, a fever, or who are coughing or sneezing are encouraged to contact the court before appearing. Please alert the court in advance. The court will make reasonable accommodations and reschedule appearances and hearings as needed.
